Hello knitter friends! I am super excited to announce my new cowl design is now available for purchase in my Ravelry shop Jess Knits Designs! Allow me to introduce the Mountaineer Cowl:
This pattern calls for 2 skeins of fingering weight (sock weight works well also) yarn in complementing colors and US 6 16 inch circular needles. I am so pleased with how the sample turned out. For the sample shown above I used 1 skein Manos Del Uruguay Alegria in the Pescador for the main/background color and 1 skein of Malabrigo Mechita in Aniversario for the contrast color. I am so pleased with how it turned out. I will always love the color combinations of purple and blues against teals and mint greens, they just go really well together. You can find my Mountaineer Cowl pattern HERE.
Also, some really fun and exciting news to share. I’ve had 500 downloads of my Rhythm in the Needles Cowl!!! I am overwhelmed by the reception I’ve had for this pattern. Reminder: Rhythm in the Needles is a free pattern in my shop….and you can find it HERE.
In honor of this huge milestone I am having a sale in my Ravlery shop. Starting today Saturday, June 20th through Saturday, June 27th all of my patterns will be on sale 50% off. You don’t need a coupon code for this special sale, the discount will automatically apply when you add any of my patterns to your Ravelry cart.
I’m also working on my next podcast episode. I’ll be talking about my favorite knitting resource books. If you are on the lookout to add helpful knitting books to your library you won’t want to miss this episode.
That’s all I have for this post. I hope you will check out my new pattern and take advantage of the sale this week! Stay tuned for my next podcast episode and new patterns to be released in my shop.
Hello Knitter Friends! It’s been a while I know. I’d be a liar if I said that 2020 has not been completely insane and upside down! So far this year I’ve gone from working in an Office at my place of employment, to working from home, to schools closing for the remainder of the school year, to navigating the distance learning for my 2nd grader, to not knowing what day it is or who I am. Ha ha ha!
On the upside of all the crazy in the world, because I have to look for a silver lining, I’ve been able to finish drafting and publishing a new pattern for my JessKnits Ravlery Shop. The pattern is Rhythm in the Needles, it is a brioche knit cowl that can be knit with one color or two contrasting colors of either sock or fingering weight yarn. It is suitable for both solid and variegated yarns. It knits up wonderfully squishy and cozy and perfect for fall and winter seasons. Here’s the super exciting part! This pattern is FREE! You read that right….FREE!!! You can’t beat that price! I really wanted to create a fun and free pattern for my knitters.
I know brioche seems hard and scary and just way to complicated to try. Trust me, it is not near as hard as it looks. I also use to feel this way. I admired brioche projects but was way too intimidated to actually try it. But, one I felt adventurous and gave it a try. I found an excellent YouTube tutorial (hint – I included a link in the pattern to this vary tutorial) that made everything click for me. I became obsessed with brioche!
I named this pattern Rhythm in the Needles because brioche knitting has a very soothing rhythm to each round that instantly transports me into a zen mode. I could knit brioche hats with matching cowls (Rhythm in the Needles cowls of course) all day long. Once you get the hang of it you’ll be able to add this pattern to your “mindless” knitting category for tv knitting, travel knitting, lunch break knitting, the possibilities are endless. You can go directly to the pattern page HERE. I really hope you will download this pattern and give it a go. It is so much fun to knit and wear.
In other new and super exciting news. I am working on a new knitting podcast called JessKnits Podcast. Original right?! You can find the podcast and listen to the trailer HERE. Podcasting is very new to me so and I am getting used to hearing my own voice. I’m working on the first episode and hope to publish it soon. You can listen to the podcast on the Anchor app or website, or just about anywhere you can listen to podcasts. Right now I know it is available on Spotify for sure. I am working on getting it available on other podcast platforms like Apple podcast. Keep an eye out for a blog post all about the new podcast.
I’m going to be honest, I want people to knit my designs. I’m pretty sure that is one of the goals of all knit designers. Another honest moment, I started this pattern design journey but then I got away from the typing the patterns, taking the photos, and publishing the patterns. Sometimes life gets crazy and you have to let some things slide.
However, I am working my way back into it. I have three designs that I am working on typing up and editing. In the meantime I have a goal/desire to encourage more knitters to knit my patterns. I did some brainstorming and came up with the idea of offering one of my published patterns each month at a discounted price.
This offer starts today. For the entire month of April 2019, I am offering my Lagertha Cowl pattern 40% off.
You do not need a code to get the discount. All you have to do is add the pattern to your cart to get the discount. The promotion will run from April 1st through the 30th.
I’m very proud of this particular design and I wear it often in the fall and winter. The pattern features lace and garter sections which knit up quiet squishy and cozy.
For the sample I used Malabrigo sock yarn in complementary colorways. The lace sections are knit in Botichelli Red and the garter sections are knit in Eggplant. I absolutely love how this turned out!
I really hope you will check this pattern out and give it a knit! If you have any questions or comments please feel free to reach out to me on Ravelry (JessieLynn) or via email (email@example.com). I’d love to hear from you.
Tag me in your photos on instagram (@jess_knits) so I can see your beautiful Lagertha cowls!
I finally published a new pattern to my Jess Knits Ravelry shop. Lagertha is a nice a squishy cowl pattern knit in the round with sections of lace and garter stitch. I’m so very pleased with the way this pattern turned out. It’s also the first pattern using my new pattern template with my new logo on it. I’m super excited to share it with you!
I used 2 skeins of Malabrigo sock yarn. Yes, I am a Malabrigo junkie! Their yarn is so soft to knit with and really comes alive when you soak it for blocking. Wet Malabrigo is as soft as butter! I love it! I used the Eggplant color for the garter stripes and Botichelli Red for the lace. I really think those two colors complemented each other really well. Kind of rustic.
This was a summer time knit, so I’ll have to get some pictures of me wearing it this fall. I really hope those who choose to purchase this pattern enjoy knitting it. As always comments and questions can be emailed to my firstname.lastname@example.org email address.
